THE CAJUN VILLAGE SHOPS
The Cajun Village Cottages are next door to The Cajun Village where The Coffee House is located. Here, our guests will enjoy your complimentary breakfast and experience true Southern hospitality. Later, come back to satisfy your taste buds with a homemade hot lunch or a variety of other favorite recipes of the area. The Coffee House is open daily from 6:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Monday – Friday & 6:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. Saturday – Sunday.
While you are on the site, browse the various shops just a few steps away. Historic Acadian style homes have been restored to house specialty shops. Discover unique gifts; some hand-crafted, antiques, art, pottery, etchings, homemade candles, etc. to take home or share.
For a stroll back into history, visit our “Tractor Barn.” On display are antique tractors, farm implements and tools, including a blacksmith forge which was dismantled from Donaldson Plantation and rebuilt with the original fire bricks. The blacksmith shop is functional and is used during the annual Oktoberfest!
Our two village celebrities (live alligators) are “Big Boy” and “Nubby.” Come watch us feed the alligators from April to September on Sundays at 4 p.m.
THE CABIN RESTAURANT
The Cabin Restaurant is just 3 miles west on Hwy. 22 at the intersection of Hwy. 22 and Hwy. 44. The restaurant, open 7 days a week, is housed in one of the original 180-year-old cabins from Monroe plantation. The Cabin Restaurant has been in business for 33 years and is known worldwide for its Cajun dishes; particularly chicken and andouille gumbo, hot cornbread, and red beans and rice. This historical landmark is owned and operated by Al and Theresa Robert, host and owners of The Cajun Village Cottages. View website.
